Overview:
Kenner, LA Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Technical Illustrator to support its Engineering and Technical Publications departments by creating and maintaining detailed dimensional drawings and parts documentation for a diverse range of machinery. This position plays a vital role in developing visual resources used in product manuals, marketing layouts, and engineering reference materials. The ideal candidate must be proficient in CAD systems, graphic tools, and comfortable working hands-on in a production environment to gather physical measurements.

Essential Duties:
• Develop and maintain dimensional drawings for the entire product line using AutoCAD, derived from Creo 3D CAD models.
• Support Marketing and Application Engineering by supplying accurate 2D layout data and product illustrations.
• Conduct on-site machine inspections in the factory to physically measure and verify geometry for drawing accuracy.
• Research engineering structures to create accurate parts manuals and exploded views.
• Assist Engineering in gathering technical information for drawings and manuals.
• Collaborate with Technical Writers to develop written instruction formats and integrate visuals with text.
• Create detailed technical illustrations and parts drawings using:
– Creo (5%)
– AutoCAD (60%)
– CorelDRAW (25%)
• Perform photo editing and enhancement using Adobe Photoshop (5%).
• Format and publish documents using Arbortext and Adobe (5%).
• Enhance drawings using CorelDRAW for visual clarity, applying graphic techniques such as line weights, color, and shading.
• Incorporate photography to streamline documentation where appropriate; capture and edit photos using Photoshop.
 • Archive photos and graphic resources for engineering and documentation reference.

Requirements/Skills:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Creo 3D CAD, and CorelDRAW.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop for image editing.
• Familiarity with Arbortext and Adobe publishing tools.
• Ability to assist engineers in gathering technical data for illustration and documentation.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering data and translate it into understandable visual and written formats.
• Strong graphic design sense for layout, annotation, and clarity in technical documents.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation practices.
 • Effective communication and collaboration skills, especially with engineers and technical writers.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to access and inspect large machinery in a factory environment.
• Requires climbing ladders, crouching, and maneuvering under and around equipment to obtain measurements.
• Must be comfortable working in an industrial setting while wearing proper PPE.
 • Ability to carry and operate photography equipment during machine inspections.
