Overview:
Kenner, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and evaluate electrical systems and associated equipment by applying a strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles. The ideal candidate will confirm system and component capabilities through stringent testing while maintaining the highest regard for safety.
Essential Duties:
• Design control systems to meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements
• Conduct vessel surveys and provide system equipment estimations during quoting phase
• Create system drawings and documentation using AutoCAD to support shipyard installations
• Design, layout, and assemble printed circuit boards (PCB)
• Submit and support documentation during ABS / USCG certification review
• Write system manuals, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and periodic test procedures
• Support programming and production during construction and in-house system testing
• Provide technical support for service department during vessel commissioning
• Ensure ABS and USCG system compliance
• Communicate with customers throughout all development phases to meet expectations
• Operate electrical test equipment as required
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD proficiently
Requirements/Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and control systems design
• Familiarity with ABS and USCG compliance standards
• Experience in PCB design and electrical documentation
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to read technical documents and interpret regulations and standards
• Competency in technical writing and document preparation
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to conduct vessel surveys which may involve climbing, bending, or standing for extended periods
• Ability to use electrical testing equipment and handle standard engineering tools
