Food Service Worker

(Dauphin Island, AL): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Food Service Worker I to support food preparation and service operations in a dynamic kitchen environment. This role includes food prep, customer service, workstation sanitation, and maintaining compliance with food safety guidelines. This is an hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Café Manager.

Essential Duties:

• Perform basic food preparation such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruits and vegetables
• Replenish food items and ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained
• Set up and sanitize workstations including prep tables, steam tables, service counters, and hot wells
• Wash and sterilize food trays, dishes, utensils, and equipment
• Store food items properly using safe food handling practices
• Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines
• Serve food items efficiently and in a customer-friendly manner
• Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal
• Restock and sanitize guest drink stations
• Operate a point-of-sale system, including processing credit card payments and end-of-day reconciliation
• Comply with safety, hygiene, and service standards
• Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries
• Maintain a positive attitude and provide excellent customer service
• Participate in scheduled events, including Discovery Day (annually in April)
• May be asked to work outside of the assigned schedule for necessary job functions

Requirements/Skills:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Six (6) months of food service experience preferred
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with timekeeping equipment
• Ability to count money and operate a POS system
• Must obtain a food handler’s permit within six (6) months of hire
• Knowledge or ability to learn health regulations related to food service
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Strong professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods
• Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment
• Frequent exposure to hot water, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures
• Must be able to lift heavy items from a stooping position
• Visual acuity, hearing, and speaking abilities required
