Job Summary:
The Millwright will repair, maintain, and facilitate installation of industrial machines used in manufacturing and production operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Ensures proper operation of large industrial equipment such as power generators, turbines, mining devices, assembly line machinery, and machinist tools.
• Uses hand tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and power tools to assemble, install, align, and adjust machines.
• Ensures machines perform to specifications by conducting tests; modifies and fine tunes machines.
• Operates engine lathe to adjust machine parts to dimensional specifications.
• Disassembles or dismantles machines.
• Gathers and assembles parts for repairs or modifications based on blueprints.
• Troubleshoots and repairs machines including when unexpected issues arise.
• Performs preventive maintenance makes repairs on older machines.
• Provides advice and recommendations to management concerning new machinery.
• Plans and facilitates installation of new or refurbished machinery, which may include building platforms and foundations.
• Conducts safety inspections of facilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Thorough and broad understanding of a variety of equipment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Thorough understanding of safety practices, guidelines, rules, and laws.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma required; vocational school or Associate’s degree in related field highly preferred.
• At least two years of experience required; four years of successful apprenticeship training preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods standing, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling required.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time.
• Visual acuity to properly inspect and modify large and detailed portions of machinery.
• Manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and relocate machines.
