Construction Materials Testing Technician

(Tampa, AL): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician.

Essential Duties:

• Perform sampling and testing of asphalt, concrete, and soil.

• Conduct field inspections of various construction activities, including pile driving, paving, and earthwork monitoring.

• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior technicians.

• Write required reports legibly and accurately.

• Operate specialized equipment for various specific tests (up to 75 lbs.) after training.

• Ensure safety and quality standards are maintained on job sites.

• Work effectively in a team environment and communicate with supervisors and clients.

Requirements/Skills:

• Construction materials testing experience with applicable certifications.

• Nuclear Safety Certification (preferred).

• ACI Grade I (Field and Lab) Certification.

• ACI Strength Testing Technician Certification (preferred).

• Asphalt Roadway Technician and Asphalt Lab Technician certifications (preferred).

• Computer literacy and strong math and science skills.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).

• Ability to pass a background check, physical, and drug/alcohol test.

• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

• Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Reliable transportation and punctuality.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to push a wheelbarrow loaded with concrete around a construction site with uneven and rutted ground surfaces.

• Lift up to 50 lbs. to shoulder height.

• Climb in and out of the back of a pick-up truck and shallow trenches.

• Use shovels and picks for digging and sampling.

• Walk and move around formed areas with rebar and other obstructions, prior to and during concrete placing activities.

• Bend or squat to lift or move objects on a construction site.

• Use various hand tools, such as saws, hammers, and wrenches.
