Job Summary: The Field Service Technician will be responsible for providing on-site support, maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment or systems at customer locations. This role requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup: Install, configure, and test equipment or systems at customer locations, ensuring proper functionality and meeting customer specifications.
Maintenance & Repairs: Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, diagnosing issues and providing timely and effective repairs.
Customer Support: Interact directly with customers, providing exceptional service by addressing their technical concerns, answering questions, and ensuring equipment operates optimally.
Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service requests, work completed, parts used, and service history for each customer. Prepare and submit service reports, including detailed descriptions of issues, solutions, and any follow-up actions required.
Equipment Testing: Run diagnostic tests on equipment to identify issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
Training & Guidance: Provide training to customers on proper equipment usage and maintenance procedures, ensuring they can operate the equipment efficiently.
Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and replacement parts, ensuring availability for scheduled maintenance or emergency repairs.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols when handling equipment and tools on-site. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Assess complex technical issues on-site, utilizing technical knowledge and resources to resolve problems promptly.
Collaboration: Communicate effectively with management, customer service, and other technicians to provide seamless support and updates on service requests and projects.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certifications in relevant fields (e.g., electronics, mechanical engineering) preferred.
Proven experience as a field service technician or in a similar technical support role.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions quickly.
Proficiency in using technical tools, diagnostic equipment, and software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to customers.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple service requests.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for traveling to customer sites.
Ability to work independently and manage service schedules with minimal supervision.
Availability for occasional after-hours or weekend work as required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry tools or equipment up to a specified weight limit.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time.
Willingness to travel frequently and work in various on-site environments.
