Job description FTS/Flexblue Staffing is sourcing a Bearing Machinist for our client in La Porte, TX. This position is a 1,040-hour contract-to-hire opportunity working day shift. JOB SUMMARY This position will perform duties to include but not limited to in-house machine work, repairs, and upgrades to customer’s machinery and to repair used or manufacture new components per drawings and procedures. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Qualification Requirements 1. A strong hands-on and working knowledge of the manufacture and assembly of close-tolerance turbo-machinery components. 2. Minimum of Eight (8) years of machinist experience. 3. A strong hands-on and working knowledge of machine shop practices and equipment. 4. Requires manual dexterity and ability to operate manual Lathes, Mills, VTL, and Boring Mills. 5. The ability to work with close tolerance equipment under supervision from other machinists, Lead Man, or Foreman. 6. Some mechanical experience is required for the resolution of equipment problems and recommended repairs. 7. Requires strong machinist problem-solving and math skills. Must be able to make tools, as required to improve repairs. 8. Requires proficient verbal and written communication skills (English). 9. Ability to complete documentation and written reports, and read MFG drawings and blueprints. Ability to make sketches and accurately read precision measuring tools. 10. Very organized, with good interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, “can do” attitude. 11. Ability to understand and comply with regulations and processes in the repair procedures. 12. Requires the ability to work component repairs from start to finish with few questions on procedures with limited supervision. 13. Strengths include a strong safety work ethic and maintaining a clean efficient work area. Principal Responsibilities 1. Perform shop repairs and machining operations. Manufacture new components per drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions with some limited supervision. Requires attention to detail and few reworks, rejections, or scrap parts. 2. Coordinate with the Lead Man to ensure special repair requirements are met. 3. Organize and maintain an efficient clean machine shop area. 4. Work overtime as required to meet customer emergency breakdown demands. 5. Willingness to learn and test for advancements based on abilities and ambitions presented by the employee. 6. Perform and promote safety standards within the shop environment.
