Overview:
Houma, Louisiana: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Shop Technician with welding experience for an immediate contract-to-hire (permanent, long-term) position. The applicant will be responsible for assembling, testing, and servicing customized mechanical, hydraulic, electro-mechanical/hydraulic, and electrical components and assemblies according to prescribed drawings. The shop technician will perform complex maintenance and installation of various mechanical equipment, serve as a quality control point for less senior maintenance mechanics, and ensure all work is performed safely. When not performing the duties listed, they will assist the engineering and production teams as necessary.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform a variety of welding tasks in the fabrication of parts and equipment repair.

  • Set up and operate M.I.G. & T.I.G welding machines.

  • Create parts from shop drawings that conform to specifications within acceptable time frames.

  • Move and position raw materials and finished goods using pallet jacks and/or forklifts.

  • Read and follow engineering drawings, Bills of Material, and technical specifications.

  • Assemble, test, and service systems and components, including hydraulic manifolds, solenoid valves, proportional valves, hoses, metal tubing, electrical cables, and controllers.

  • Perform general mechanical tasks, including basic welding, torch cutting, grinding, etc.

  • Maintain records (assembly routers, quality checks, dimensional checks, testing, etc.).

  • Fabricate and install high-pressure tubing using standard fittings.

  • Monitor installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for adjustments, repairs, or replacements.

  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, belt fans, and air conditioners.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems.

  • Disassemble machinery and repair or replace broken parts.

  • Test and analyze malfunctioning equipment using hand and power tools to locate defects.

  • Clean and lubricate parts.

  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to less senior maintenance mechanics.

  • Inspect the work of others.

  • Support and participate in the organization's continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years of technical trade school preferred.

  • Total of six (6) years of combined education/experience.

  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment is a plus.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical processes/procedures.

  • Proficient with mechanical tools and equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical circuits.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system schematics/blueprints.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds consistently.

  • Must be able to work in a warehouse setting daily.

  • Must be able to complete pre-employment screenings.

  • Must be able to work overtime occasionally.
