JOB SUMMARY:
This role will perform a variety of mechanical operations / tasks on turbomachinery components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. We also have flexibility to train the right mechanically inclined candidate for this role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.
Responsible for understanding and complying with the safety policy, procedures, and instructions.
Assemble components in accordance with procedures, drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
Perform precision balancing on components and rotating assemblies to specified requirements.
Use calipers, gauges, micrometers & other measuring tools to determine the condition of components and assemblies.
Assemble various configurations of components to corresponding assembly prints utilizing available tooling, gauging and equipment.
Generate inspection reports as required and assist with documenting quality issues and solutions.
Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Ability to understand assembly and manufacturing prints.
Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and/or Skill Requirements:
Safety Conscience
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
Ability and willingness to work in an environment of constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities.
Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required.
Ability and willingness to work around and use large propane / acetylene torches.
Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment, but basic skills are required beforehand).
Basic oral and written communication skills.
Basic computer and math skills.
Patience, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Education:
Highschool Diploma or equivalent from an accredited school or institution.
Previous Experience:
At least two years of experience working in an industrial or machine shop setting preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience with component assembly and dynamic balancing.
OTHER INFORMATION:
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift.
Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.
Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage.
Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.
