FTS is seeking a few Painters who are motivated, have previous paint exp (either auto, or ship a plus), flexible and eager to learn in Mobile, AL.
Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).

Performs application of materials according to appropriate time standards.

Sands and masks surfaces of various materials.

Applies special materials to include paints, undercoats, primer coats, sealers, topcoats by original manufacturer standards of quality.

Utilizes standard paint equipment such as conventional and airless spray equipment, motorized lifts, brushes, rollers, and other related equipment.

Wears appropriate safety equipment including fresh air spray masks, paint suits, safety eyewear, safety gloves, and head coverings according to OSHA and FAA guidelines.

Uses and disposes of hazardous materials including thinners, solvents, and paints according to safety procedures.

Uses equipment according to safety guidelines including exhaust fans, heaters, compressed air systems, spray guns and paint mixing machines.

Reads technical safety data sheets and other reading materials to stay current on safety issues and paint technology.

Logs the amount of materials used for each job in logbook.

Reports and documents in log book any malfunctions of shop equipment to supervisor immediately.

Performs shop equipment maintenance each day to include cleaning filters, adjusting air pressures and washing down equipment with high-pressure water.

Cleans the Paint Shop Department using high-pressure water.

Maintains inventory and notifies Supervisor of any stock shortages.

Performs all activities in accordance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Assists in the proper erection of scaffold and ladders.

Completes general housekeeping.

Safely drives vehicles as required.

Completes grounds maintenance work, which includes parking lot clean up and maintaining building appearance.

Lifts and carries materials and equipment throughout work areas using appropriate equipment.

Maintains neat and orderly work areas at all times.

Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures.

Reports any problems/concerns or discrepancies to the management.

Attends and successfully completes required training classes in order to maintain technical competencies.

Reports all occupational injuries or illnesses to Supervisor immediately.

Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
-
Attends work as scheduled within the attendance policy.
Skills, knowledge and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).
· Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Must be able to use fingers, hands, wrists to grab and hold heavy equipment.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
· Must be able to convert and read liquid measurements in metrics (liters, centiliters, milliliters).
· Must be able to interact cordially and productively with all employees.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
· Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize.
· Must be able to use a Genie Boom, Platform lift, Arial Access platforms and forklift.
· Ability to use general office equipment including computer and time machines.
· Must be able to proficiently read, write and communicate clearly in English.
· Must be able to stand; use hands and reach with hands and arms frequently.
· Must be able to walk, talk, hear and see clearly.
· Must occasionally sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
· Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
· Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
· Must be able to work shifts including nights and weekends.
· Must be able to work overtime.
Experience and Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Prior experience in the repair and application of materials required.
Work conditions:
Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; slight risk of electrical shock.
