Mill Operator

We are seeking a Mill Operator for an established company in the Cookeville, TN area who will be in charge of setting up a mill machine, responsible for mill operations and products that the mill makes, and must able to diagnose malfunctions with machine and communicate effectively with maintenance team.

Schedule: Night Shift – Flip Flop Shift, 6PM to 6AM

Job Duties of the Mill Operator:

• Setup and operate welded tube mill

• Adjust basic tooling and the holding fixtures on machines

• Perform visual inspection of parts to identify burrs or damage to established standards

• Load and unload assigned machines; prepare raw materials, follow loading procedures, and remove parts from the machine

• Observe machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction and report problems to supervisor

Skills and Qualifications of the Mill Operator:

• One-year previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.

• Requires good mechanical aptitude.

• Experience with tooling changeover setup and cutoff operation.

• Skilled with use of precision measuring and inspection equipment, gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other basic precision measuring instruments.

• Demonstrated ability to correctly follow a rule or a basic set of rules, i.e. follow work instructions.

• Must have basic data entry and computer skills. Ability to perform basic shop math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) computation.

• Demonstrate proficient manual dexterity and superior eye hand coordination.

• Frequent need to see details at a close range (within 18 inches of observer) to inspect for part conformity and/or part defects.

• Ability to operate tow motor safely

• Ability to stand for long periods of time operating and tending to machines.

• Ability to bend, stretch, twist.

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
