We are hiring for a nightshift Packaging Operator on the Southside of Jacksonville.

 

Shift: 7pm to 7:30am on a rotating 2/2/3 schedule

 

 

The packaging operator ensures that the final product is placed in the appropriate case pack or bundle. This position is responsible for the case pack/bundler and also trouble shooting the palletizer. Machine issues must be communicated to Team Leader.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform shift change with the outgoing operator.

  • Ensure the quality of the cases/bundles and packs inside the machine and the grabs coming off the palletizer.

  • Complete quality checks every hour saving a box every three (3) hours.

  • Enter the information into the computer and complete visual quality checks on the grabs when pulling the off the conveyor.

  • Keep the area clean by cleaning up cardboard, glue, or packs from the floor. Keep work area clean and well organized and all broken bins and trash cans are emptied.

  • Make sure the level of glue in the glue hopper is full and glue is staged on the outfeed of the case packer.

  • Ensure a stack of slip sheets and pallets are staged in the designated areas.

  • Make sure poly rolls are prepped and staged on both sides of the stretch wrapper.

  • Properly prep and stack KDFs on the conveyor making sure there is at least 5 stacks in the designated area beside the palletizer. Ensure all scrap KDFs are baled with correct paperwork, and any rejected KDFs are also baled with the correct paperwork.

  • Maintain the case packer at target speeds for each product code.

  • Keep the palletizer empty and raw materials staged, and keep KDF stacks loaded on the case packer conveyor.

  • Trouble shoot any machine or quality issues.

  • Document and communicate any machine or quality with the Team Leader.

  • Efficiently utilize time by working in other areas when the machine is waiting on product or outfeed is full.

  • Take bales off to the baler throughout the shift.

  • Responsible to know, understand, comply and be actively engaged with the safety procedures, safety policies, and internal regulations and controls.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Ability to work safely and address safety issues.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions or procedures.

  • Exercise and make sound decisions as required to perform the job.

  • Ability to troubleshoot machine and quality issues.

  • Ability to work as a team and to work independently without a high level of supervision.

  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry a short distance if required.
