Job Responsibilities:
Operates and sets up the CNC grinding machine for ID or OD grinding operations, selecting and installing grinding wheels, dressers, and other fixtures.
Job Duties:
•Operate the CNC ID/OD grinder to perform precision grinding on internal or external surfaces of parts.
•Monitor the grinding process and adjust machine settings (e.g., wheel feed, coolant) as necessary to maintain accuracy.
•Perform multiple grinding passes, as required, to achieve the desired surface finish and dimensions.
•Inspect and measure work pieces using measuring instruments, such as gauges or micrometers.
•Understand grinding processes, including part dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
•Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
•Study blueprints, layouts or charts, and job orders for information on specifications and tooling instructions, and to determine material requirements and operational sequences.
•Select cutting tools and tooling instructions, according to written specifications or knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics.
•Refill, change, and monitor the level of fluids, such as oil and coolant, in machines.
•Dress the grinding wheel to maintain its shape and precision.
