DIRECT HIRE Controls Technician

This is a DIRECT HIRE position located in Westminster, SC.


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Design advanced electrical, mechanical and computer-controlled systems.  Improve manufacturing support and maintenance programs through training and technical support.  Develop process specification, machine parameters. Install and develop new technology PLC, HMI, visions systems, VFD and robotics.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

A.    Design control systems for machine tools, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic

B.    Maintain the electrical and program documentation.

C.    Install and update software and hardware required for troubleshooting machine logic programs

D.    Assists and trains maintenance personnel in the troubleshooting of production equipment and the repair of electronic control equipment.

E.    Selects capital equipment for manufacturing processes.

F.    Improve current machine tools to increase uptime, improve quality and increase productivity.

G.    Provides engineering support to production equipment and processes, including advising maintenance. 

H.    Establishes programs for cost savings activities to support overall plant requirements.

I.    Advises in improving preventative maintenance programs.

J.    Authorizes/approves changes to machine tool programs.

K.    Maintain and follow Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.


DIMENSIONS:

Record any measurable statistics which your position impacts such as production expenses, maintenance expenses, sales volumes, payroll costs, capital expenditures, research budgets, cost of purchases, value of inventories controlled, employees supervised (direct and indirect).


Capital expenditures:  $< 1 Million per year.

MRO expenditures:  $ 100K per year.


SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

•    Associates degree in technical field preferred or 5 years' work experience with controls.

•    Knowledge of programming and designing controls systems utilizing PC’s, PLCs, electrical and pneumatic components.

•    Experience in writing and debugging code for SLC 500, ControlLogix, or Omron.

•    Experience with CNC or NC controls.

•    HMI program development experience.

•    Experience in hardware/panel design, motor sizing, component selection, drive system selection and programming, robotics and motion control.

•    Experience with automation network interfaces for data and control (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet).

•    Experience in machine vision setup and programming preferred.

•    Working knowledge of NEC code.

•    AutoCAD experience preferred.

•    Results oriented personality and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. 

•    Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

•    Experience in continuous improvement activities will be considered a plus.  This includes using tools such as kaizens, mistake proofing, establishing standard work practices, problem solving, pull systems, 5S, setup reduction, TPM, etc.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

In this position, you must drive improvements in the plant operations that impact the operations in Safety, Quality, Cost and overall Performance.

Pay Rate for this position is $28-$38 Per Hour Depending on Experience.
