JOB SUMMARY:
Performs complex clerical support functions in the collection of current and delinquent taxes on real and personal properties and titling, registration of motor vehicles and tag issuance. Assists customers with questions regarding tax, tag and titles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides information and services to citizens in person or by telephone related to ad valorem and property taxes, and tag sales.
Performs assigned customer service transactions within required timeframes; completes daily cash drawer close-out documentation.
Collects and accounts for monies; balances at the end of each day.
Understands and remains informed of multiple laws, rules and regulations governing the titling and registration of motor vehicles.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
One year of clerical experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of general office procedures, methods and equipment.
Knowledge of computer programs and ability to use programs efficiently.
Knowledge of department policies and procedures relating to the collection of relevant taxes and fees.
Ability to comprehend written and verbal material and instructions and apply to unique situations.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
Ability to receive money and make change.
Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the public and be tactful in difficult situations.

Physical Ability:
Essential functions of this position continuously require the ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing); operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copier, and printer. Incumbents must continuously be able to think analytically; handle stress and emotion, concentrate on tasks, remember names and other details; examine and observe details; make decisions, and adjust to change. Incumbents must also continuously meet deadlines; stay organized; use math/calculations and use a keyboard/type.
Essential Functions frequently require the ability to move about inside the office; and move/transport items up to 25lbs.
Essential functions occasionally require the ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs, and twisting at the waist, hips or knees; reach overhead; push or pull; and repetitively use hands/arms/legs. Incumbents in this position are occasionally required to be on-call and work irregular hours.
Sensory Requirements:
Essential functions regularly require the ability to use effective verbal and written communication; and use of hand/eye coordination and fine manipulation to use equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 year minimum of verifiable clerical experience.
