JOB OVERVIEW:

A Transportation Company is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to dispatch trucks and ensure all loads are delivered on time every time.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receive calls from customers
• Works alone and with other dispatchers to ensure loads are delivered
• Uses fuel management software to monitor fuel demand
• Utilizes night dispatcher on duty during the weeknights, takes weekend night calls, and resolves issues to the best of their ability or directs the call or issues to the appropriate on-call resource
• Proactively manage and complete/resolve overnight events such as accidents, employee injuries, and spills
• Report all accidents and incidents to management via phone and email
• Receives paperwork from drivers and reviews it to make sure the paperwork is correct
• Reviews and scans paperwork to the corporate office
• Reviews Driver’s Daily Logs and works with the Safety Manager to ensure compliance
• Maintains Driver Inspection Vehicle Reports files
• Other duties/tasks as assigned, as business needs change

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND TRAINING:

• Ability to plan in detail
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to handle and organize a large volume of calls and problems at the same time
• Must work well under pressure
• Ability to thrive in a constantly changing, chaotic environment and consistently meet tight timelines
• Ability to coordinate with other trucking dispatchers, customers, and drivers
• Ability to work as a team member in communicating dispatch to drivers, customers, and management
• Minimum 3 years of experience in dispatch work, preferably for a trucking company
• Geographic knowledge of California
• Must be proficient with computers and the appropriate software
• Must be able to use office equipment such as scanners, copiers, and fax machines
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE POSTION:

Requires prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stooping and telephone/radio communications. This position works four (4) days on with four (4) days off. Hours may vary depending on the day of the week.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
