Position Description:
Focused and committed Engineering and Operations Leader for the Engineering, Design, and Project Management staff and the overall operations of the firm preferably having a strong engineering and consulting background with proven skills in project engineering, project management and business management in both the environmental and industrial markets.
Successful Client interfacing business manager that understands and identifies project scopes, client needs and the importance of delivering client requirements.
This is a key Leadership position that influences and directly impacts the success and desired growth of the entire engineering firm.
Leads and supports Business Development and growth opportunities which are vital to the success of the company.
Supervises and leads expansion in existing markets and broadens areas of expertise for the company.
Explores new geographies as well as new client relationships.
Excels at analyzing problems and implementing innovative solutions.
Accountable for an active portfolio of large projects, supervising Project Managers with continual client interactions, reviewing progress and ensuring project goals are accomplished.
Responsible for project development from the FEL (Front End Loading) process through construction and close-out with a proven record of successfully bringing projects from conception through completion.
Organizing projects, initiating and implementing standards and guidelines necessary to perform client requirements.
Experience providing Project Management services directly to clients as an agent on their behalf.
General:
Participates fully with company-wide programs, meetings and events implementing company procedures and policies. These are fundamental components necessary to successfully meet all financial and performance objectives of the firm.
Promotes and assures quality on all projects and work performed by the engineering staff and project managers.
Works with the Department Leads to ensure they are properly managing the workflow of their departments, making assignments inclusive of budgeted hours and delivery dates for all employees and departments.
Responsible for setting and achieving company goals pertaining to safety, quality, engineering solutions, and meeting budget and schedule requirements of all projects as well as the overall profitability of the company.
Works with Department Leads to develop departmental budgets and assists GM with the development of the company’s overall budget.
Provides advice and supports Department Managers in developing scope, estimates and proposals for potential projects and change orders of existing projects and schedules.
Confers with Department Managers and General Manager to maintain and update Quality Processes and Procedures.
Develops and implements policies, standards and procedures for engineering and technical work performed.
Monitors projects to ensure projects are completed timely, within budget and error free.
Works with the Department Leads to determine needed manpower resources and the financial needs to ensure the department has adequate resources and may participate in the recruitment and selection process of employees.
Ensures technical training for the engineering, design and project management staff is progressing according to plan.
Supports Department Leads in mentoring engineers, designers and project managers as needed.
Education Requirements:
BS in Engineering required.
MBA preferred.
Certifications - Preferred:
PE License or able to gain PE License in immediate future.
PMP Certification or able to gain in immediate future.
Skills & Experience:
• 15+ years of engineering and project management experience required, preferably in an engineering firm or consulting environment.
• 10+ years of consulting and/or similar experience within Refining, Chemical, Steel, Institutional, Food or Pharmaceutical.
• Additional helpful experience can include working in large major capital Petro-chemical pipelines and refining projects spanning multiple disciplines and craft lines. Refinery turnarounds, capacity increases, debottlenecking, HF Alky, crude, FCC and coker units experience helpful.
• Specialized engineering skills in a variety of areas is useful, can include mechanical systems, electrical instrumentation and controls, environmental and emission controls among others.
• Ability to lead capital projects from concept through fruition.
