Position Summary:
The Product Engineer – Windows, is responsible for supporting the design, development, and manufacturing of both new and existing window products. This role will collaborate closely with packaging design, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to identify innovative solutions and drive cost-saving opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, and validation testing of new and current window products or enhancements to existing products and designs.
- Project engineering for small to midsized companies.
- Manage multiple 18-24 month projects through the Stage-Gate product development process, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
- Translate user requirements into technical specifications and conduct feasibility studies for new solutions.
- Create detailed CAD designs and 3D models to aid in product development for manufacturing, work with sourcing and manufacturing.
- Perform engineering analyses, including tolerance and stack up analysis, and prepare FMEAs and technical documentation.
- Build and test prototypes, performing bench-top experiments to validate design concepts.
- Plan and execute testing methodologies, analyze data, and create reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with sourcing and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure product designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D modeling. (SolidWorks a must)
- 3-5 years of experience in product development projects.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles in a lean environment.
- Experience with structured product development processes, including iterative and stage-gate methodologies.
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as molding, extrusion, metal forming, light assembly, and glass production.
- Knowledge of materials, vinyl and polymer
- Ability to identify and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, demonstrating accountability and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the glass building product industry.
- Project management experience.
Schedule:
Hybrid (In-Office: Tuesday-Thursday) / Travel to MFG Plants
