Job Description
Project Civil Engineer will lead a variety of public and private site development projects, managing multiple land projects and tasks and work on diverse and challenging projects while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary group of talented Engineers & Designers on projects for various clients across various markets!
Engineer will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks utilizing their technical and organizational skills, including working on the design and planning for hydrologic & hydraulic modeling, stormwater planning, drainage / erosion / sediment control design, utility design, plan reviews, code review, feasibility studies, permitting, and report preparation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple projects and tasks; this includes monitoring schedules & budgets to ensure effective completion of projects as well as client satisfaction.
- Meet regularly with clients.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals for new & existing clients (including estimation of project fees).
- Oversee the development of Land Development Plans; this includes the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specification, and engineering reports (from schematic design through construction).
- Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large scale, complex projects.
- Delegate workload to Junior Engineers & Drafters; this includes mentoring / guiding Junior Engineers to develop Stormwater Management [SWM] strategies, Utility Coordination, and Erosion & Sediment Control [E&SC] Design.
- Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) from an accredited school.
- 4-8 years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with Land Development design projects).
- PE License in VA (would consider if already in the process of obtaining Virginia Professional Engineer License or able to obtain within 6 months of start date).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Management and/or Project Management experience; proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects is preferred.
- Experience working on brownfield (land redevelopment) as well as greenfield projects.
- Advanced proficiency with site design functions: site layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, erosion control, municipal & land-use regulatory approvals, etc.
- Experience working with stormwater management, especially while utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools.
- Proficiency with engineering / CADD tools; expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Proficiency with standard office & project management software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Bluebeam Revu, etc.
- Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player, especially while maintaining the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
