This location has 30 employees and has a lab/design/R & D type atmosphere.


Responsibilities:

  • •    Responsible for a range of electrical, control and PLC tasks relating to the deployment of bespoke factory manufacturing execution system (SmartLine), mainly within American businesses.

•    Experience of factory level network communications preferably involving automated high speed data collection.

•    Some experience with data analytics and worked with MES projects would be ideal.

•    Proven ability to meet challenging deadlines and targets within a dynamic project and factory environment.

•    Responsible for plant surveys and detailed design proposals that establish the scope of work required in each plant for installing SmartLine/Production Order Control.

•    Determining the communications route for transfer of data between machine and line control PLCs to SmartLine.  

•    Implementing the required PLC program and hardware changes in conjunction with plant electrical teams according to approved plans.

•    Validation of data collected from PLC and server.

•    Design activities will involve:

                  Interfacing with instrumentation and sensors specified for machine and process control.

                  Data capture and validation.

                  Designing and implementing PLC networks. 

•    Programming a range of PLCs including Allen Bradley, Siemens and Omron. 

•    Gather feedback and analyse current usage of SmartLine to promote ideas for systems improvements.

Professional and academic qualifications - Essential:

•    BSEE or Control degree plus 2+ yrs exp.  Educated to degree level or an equivalent higher-level qualification in electrical and control engineering or closely related discipline is preferred.


Professional and academic qualifications - Desirable:

•    Qualifications will be considered in conjunction with relevant knowledge and experience


Previous experience - Essential:

•    Minimum 2 years proven ability in the design and commissioning of control and electrical systems for machines and high-speed manufacturing production lines

•    Experience of the design process from specification through implementation and final validation

•    Working knowledge and an understanding of electrical schematics, PLC logics & HMI designs


Previous experience - Desirable:

•    Experience in designing and deploying SCADA, MES or any production line awareness systems

Languages

•    Some competence in a foreign language desired


Travel required:

Travel a few days a month and do need a passport.  Travel within North/South America and occasional travel to Europe and Asia.
