Are you a seasoned leader with a knack for problem-solving and project management? We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our client’s team at their Lemont, IL Refinery as a Process Safety Management (PSM) Specialist. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in leading teams and collaborating with various departments to develop solutions for identified challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process safety, including risk assessments, process hazard analysis (PHA), management of change (MOC), and incident investigation.

Responsibilities:

» Lead and facilitate teams comprising individuals from operations, engineering, and reliability groups to address identified issues.

» Develop strategic plans in collaboration with stakeholders to resolve operational challenges effectively.

» Act as a liaison between different departments, akin to a project manager, to ensure smooth progress and timely issue resolution.

» Create and deliver presentations to management outlining project status and proposed solutions.

» Serve as a process safety representative for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

» Undertake plant visits as needed to complete tasks or projects.

» Gas Detection Modeling as needed to support PHA Action Items .

» Update PSM procedures and confirm content does not contradict corporate standard or code/industry best practice.

» Capital & Expense Project Safety Engineering support as needed.

» Create PHA/LOPA Guidance Documents - As issues are identified during PHA/LOPA studies, create guidance documents to help foster consistency.

» Work on multiple projects simultaneously, some with extended turnaround times.

» Develop and maintain the refinery's (PSM) Process Safety Management program in compliance with regulations.

» Conduct and facilitate process hazard analyses (PHA) for new processes and process modifications.

» Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure that changes to processes, equipment, or procedures are properly reviewed and implemented.

» Lead incident investigations related to process safety incidents and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

» Perform process safety audits, inspections and training to refinery personnel.


Qualifications:

» Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemical, mechanical, or process-related field.

» Experience in oil & gas refinery, processing or chemical plants.

» Strong background in process management.

» Proficiency in Excel, including data manipulation.

» Familiarity with Microsoft Project is a plus.

» Experience with process hazard analysis (PHA) methodologies such as HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA.

» Strong knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations, protocols and industry best practices.

» Certified Process Safety Professional (CCPS) certification is a plus.

» Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

» Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

» Leadership experience in operations, engineering, and reliability groups.

» Experienced with creating and delivering presentations.

» The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration.
