Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Air Import Coordinator to manage and coordinate the importation of air freight shipments from overseas origins to final delivery. This role requires expertise in U.S. Customs regulations, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of ensuring smooth cargo handling from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage all aspects of air import shipments from origin to delivery.

Receive and review pre-alerts and documentation from overseas agents to ensure accuracy and completeness.

File customs entries or coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely clearance.

Verify Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and ensure compliance with all applicable customs regulations.

Track and trace shipments, providing proactive updates to customers and resolving any delays or issues.

Arrange final delivery with carriers and trucking companies for timely cargo arrival.

Communicate regularly with customers, overseas agents, customs brokers, carriers, and internal teams.

Ensure billing, invoicing, and shipment documentation are completed accurately and on time.

Maintain organized shipment records and ensure proper filing of documentation.

Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in invoices, charges, or cargo details.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.

1–3 years of experience in air import operations or international logistics preferred.

In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS codes, incoterms, and import documentation.

Familiarity with logistics systems such as CargoWise, Descartes, or similar is a plus.

Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Knowledge of CBP, FDA, USDA, and other regulatory agency requirements is a plus.
Work Conditions

Office-based position, Monday to Friday, with occasional extended hours during peak shipping periods.

Interaction with international clients and agents may require working across different time zones.
