Position: Project Manager
Job Type: Contract project manager to assist with an influx in workload on some major projects. Term would probably be 1 year, and availability to start is ASAP.
Pay Rate/Range: $60-$80K
Description:
Manage medium to large projects, with small to medium complexity or business impact, in accordance with company’s project methodology to reach desired outcome.
- Manage project on time, on specification and on budget
- Has the authority to make decisions and manage the allocated resources, within given frame and budget
- Stakeholder management and communication
Key Activities
- Report to steering committee (internal and external)
- Project Initiation
- Secure project registration & documentation
- Review contract
- Secure Handover from Sales (through a Handover meeting called by Sales)
- Project Planning
- Facilitate contract review by Project Team
- Facilitate Internal Project Kick Off Meeting for release to Production
- Technical Review
- Facilitate internal technical review (if required)
- Technical clarifications with Sales / Customer (based on input from the Project Team)
- Project Planning
- Log initial risks and opportunities incl. mitigation actions
- Create and maintain project schedule and regularly communicate with internal and external stakeholders (based on input from the Project Team)
- Check budget
- Send order acknowledgement (if not already done by Sales)
- Project Execution
- Call and facilitate project kick off meeting with customer, if the meeting is not called or facilitated by the customer
- Customer Communication
- Report project status to customer (order status, document status, manufacturing status, delivery date, change orders)
- Formalize and log all customer lead-time deviations (e.g. design approval, material receipt)
- Facilitate responses to technical comments from the customer about the design
- Call and facilitate pre-inspection meeting with customer
- Project Monitoring & Controlling
- Report and manage risks, issues, opportunities
- Pursue change orders
- Monitor project activities, incl. verification of task progress & hours
- Monitor project costs / manage allocated financial resources to achieve project objectives
- Maintain project schedule & activity plan
- Control project activities, e.g. inform customer of design freeze, authorize start of manufacturing, approve payment of main suppliers’ invoices, manage invoicing to the customer (even if through the Sales Company)
- Facilitate Internal Communication
- Report project status to management (manhour deviation, gross margin deviation, delivery time deviation)
- Participate in project reviews by management
- Call and facilitate project closure meeting with customer
- Project Closure
- Call and facilitate internal project closure meeting incl. handover to Service
ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS (level of functional responsibility, relationships, level of direction received, and ability to initiate work):
- Reports to Technical Office Manager.
- Dotted line responsibility for design, drawings, BOM, and documentation.
- Works closely with sales engineers, customers, and sales reps.
- Works internally with purchasing, production, and quality.

Job Requirements:
Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and/or 5 or more years of capital equipment project management experience. Industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI) or a similar certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and an expert communicator
- Must be proficient with program, project, and quality management methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to perform simple to moderate process and analytical analysis.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong working knowledge of MS Project or equivalent project management software.

Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday 1st Shift with OT as needed on Saturdays 1/2 day
