Job Summary:
We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead and oversee construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires a proven leader who can manage field operations, ensure project quality and safety, and drive projects to successful completion on time and within budget. Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and have experience in historical renovation projects in addition to broader commercial construction experience.
This is an opportunity to work across a range of sectors including K-12 education, healthcare, higher education, civic, hospitality, corporate, industrial, retail, and religious construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Provide on-site leadership and manage all aspects of day-to-day field operations, ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained.
Scheduling & Coordination: Develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules in collaboration with project managers and subcontractors to meet key milestones.
Quality Control: Oversee work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Safety Management: Enforce all safety policies and procedures, ensuring OSHA compliance and maintaining a zero-incident workplace.
Subcontractor Management: Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel. Ensure materials and equipment are delivered on time and in good condition.
Budget & Cost Control: Monitor labor, material, and equipment expenses to ensure alignment with project budgets. Provide input on potential cost-saving measures.
Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve project challenges efficiently to keep projects on track.
Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, architects, engineers, and project team members. Conduct regular progress meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction with demonstrated experience in historical renovation projects preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam).
Familiarity with modern construction methods, materials, and regulations.
Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification is required; First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to manage large project teams and subcontractors effectively.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
