We are seeking a dynamic Quality Manager to lead and manage quality assurance efforts at our high-complexity manufacturing facility in Johnson County. This role is pivotal in ensuring all products meet or exceed both customer expectations and our client's quality standards. As a key leader within the plant, you will champion quality across all stages of the production process—driving continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

This position is responsible for overseeing the quality department, including inspection, testing, auditing, and process control. The Quality Engineer will also lead the development and maintenance of the plant’s Quality Management System (QMS), aligning it with industry best practices and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the owner and subject matter expert of the company's Quality Management System at the plant level.

  • Serve as a liaison between plant operations and corporate Quality functions to ensure alignment and proactive issue resolution.

  • Design, implement, and manage all aspects of the plant’s Quality Assurance program, including document control and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead investigations into Customer Incidents (CINS), oversee root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions to closure.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments and plants to optimize product reliability, reduce quality costs, and align production procedures with quality objectives.

  • Oversee inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Develop and maintain robust Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems and provide training to site leadership on SPC data interpretation and usage.

  • Maintain up-to-date access and compliance with corporate tools and databases, such as Windchill and RealSPC.

  • Regularly assess and report on process capability (CPK), and lead initiatives to improve product performance and reduce variability.

  • Establish and enforce Hold for Inspection (HFI) protocols to ensure nonconforming materials are identified, segregated, and addressed appropriately.

  • Coordinate internal quality audits, including GMP and housekeeping audits, and ensure timely resolution of findings.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the quality team; responsible for performance management, employee development, and creating a culture of high performance, safety, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 7–10 years of experience in quality management, ideally within the plastic packaging or similar high-speed manufacturing industry.

  • Professional certification in Quality Engineering (e.g., CQE) or Quality Systems required.

  • Advanced knowledge of SPC, Process Capability, and Design of Experiments (DOE).

  • Experience in developing and managing Quality Management Systems and food safety programs (HACCP, FSMA, GMP).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software for quality and process control.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and work independently.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the plastics or packaging industry.

  • Formal Six Sigma training or certification.

  • Familiarity with customer specification management tools (e.g., Windchill, RealSPC).

  • Proven track record of successfully managing audits and customer interactions related to product quality.
