Position Summary:
As a Staff Accountant, you’ll support the finance department by managing a wide range of accounting responsibilities. This includes grant and audit preparation, month-end close, journal entries, daily reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings solid knowledge of general accounting principles, is comfortable with a variety of transactions, and can adapt in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and code payables and receivables for the General Ledger through journal entries
Perform daily bank deposits and monthly bank account reconciliations
Record and analyze Capitation receipts from HMO companies for monthly entries
Reconcile American Healthcare reports with weekly bank downloads
Assist in preparation of external reports including UDS, Medicaid Wrap, and grant-related reports
Support the annual external audit process and internal audit readiness
Contribute to annual financial reporting and budget development
Generate P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports
Adhere to The company's safety and compliance policies
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP)
Proven grant accounting and external audit experience
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple accounting functions and deadlines
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) and other Office applications
Familiarity with Great Plains or similar general ledger software is highly desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
Healthcare industry experience is a strong plus
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience
Experience with a variety of transaction types and accounting functions
Familiarity with GL and AP systems and computer-based accounting tools
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experience in healthcare accounting or non-profit financial reporting
Great Plains general ledger experience
Supervisory or team lead experience
