Director for a non-profit, licensed childcare center serving families with children ages 0-5 and offering after-school care, kindergarten - 4th grade is needed. The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and coordinating the services of the childcare program, exercising independent judgment and decision-making authority as delegated, including budget, policies, procedures, and staff supervision. Under general direction, the Director operates the childcare program to conform with institutional goals and state daycare licensing provisions, maintaining the center’s accreditation. Responsibilities include the overall management of the center’s early childhood program and its operation, facilitating, planning, and coordinating the children’s education programs and activities.
Duties:
- Support a learning-oriented organizational culture that emphasizes quality experiences for children, collaborative relationships, continuous improvement, and high performance by developing curriculum.
- Promotes a safe, nurturing, healthy, positive, caring environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected.
- Maintain accurate records on children to include development, attendance, immunization, and general health; maintain accurate waiting lists.
- Develop and maintain parental rapport, keeping parents informed of their child’s daily experiences and center activities.
- Recruiting, training, supervising, and retaining quality staff.
- Plan, develop, schedule, and/or provide in-service training and staff evaluations.
- Order and maintain childcare supplies and equipment.
- Foster and cultivate partnerships with other organizations.
- Prepare and maintain administrative and business reports and records; record payments, bill late charges, collect delinquencies; review financial reports; analyze problems in these areas and make recommendations to resolve them.
- Building facility management, including but not limited to the facilitation of routine inspections, permitting, code compliance, capital projects, maintenance & repairs.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a licensed childcare facility with at least one (1) year in a management role.
- Level II accreditation is required.
- Must meet the state licensing requirements for the position of Director.
- Must complete the state program management essentials course within 60 days of hire or successfully complete an approved new Director orientation, such as program essentials.
- Must have, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, current Adult, Infant, and Child CPR and First Aid Certification
- Must possess or be able to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Montana State Driver’s License without record or suspension or revocation in any state for three years.
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven (7) years.
- Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday
Wage: Salary, $43,000-46,000/year DOE
