The Project Accountant would be responsible for processing billing transactions in support of construction projects. This role will also be responsible for keeping project insurance current, monitoring project modification pricing, tracking and confirming labor rates, advantage purchasing and other duties as assigned.


The Project Accountant will additional perform the following duties:

  • Assist with the new project set up process

  • Review owner contracts

  • Verify fully executed owner contract for State Projects

  • Review the subcontractor labor rate worksheets

  • Assist the Project Manager with the request and review of the subcontractor schedule values breakdown and identify sub-tier subcontractors and suppliers

  • Create Schedule of Values and obtain approval

  • Create contingency/allowance logs

  • Send out Request for Quote to Subcontractor/Supplier

  • Assist the Project Manager with monitoring the contingency log

  • Verify contract/PO amounts

  • Is the process owner for change orders

  • Establish labor rates

  • Prepare company statement of compliance

  • Submit payroll

  • Monitor insurance expiration dates

  • Process A/P workflow pay application after approval of pencil draft

  • Submit monthly pay application to the owner

  • Assist the Project Manager with processing the accounts payable workflow pay app invoice

  • Create pay requests

  • Assist with the budget transfer process

  • Review subcontract/insurance summary reports


The Project Accountant must possess the following qualifications:

  • Detail oriented and the ability to work with great accuracy

  • Extensive experience with construction projects

  • Diverse understanding of construction project financial issues/processes

  • Careful and deliberate with financial calculations

  • Ability to work with a variety of people in a fast-paced, team oriented environment

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing

  • Able to monitor several smaller projects at once and at times with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce
