Position Summary:
The Procedure Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for providing clinical administrative support to healthcare providers and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the medical practice. This role involves direct patient interaction, clinical assistance, and administrative tasks to facilitate patient care and ensure a high-quality experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Room patients assigned based on the schedule
- Obtain vital signs
- Obtain patient information and medical histories
- Pull Creyos report for Provider to review
- Authorize prescription refills and ensure they are sent to the pharmacy
- Ensure all referrals ordered by the provider are sent following appointment
- Prepare patients for examination
- Assist the provider during the examination
- Ensure patient comfort and privacy during medical exams and procedures
- Educate patients on medications and other physician-ordered instructions
- Explain treatment procedures to patients
- Ensure all patient information is documented in the EMR
- Ensure all patient notes are locked within 24 hours
- Communicate with patients in the clinic and via phone to ensure all questions are answered
- Ensure all voicemails are returned within 24 hours
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Scribe for Physician/Provider
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical best practices.
- Knowledge of Anatomy and physiology of the body systems.
- Compassionate and patient-focused demeanor.
- Ensuring care and safety of patients.
- Ensuring the room is terminally cleaned and ready for the next patient.
- Ensuring HIPPA compliance for all patients.
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred).
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in a clinical setting is an advantage.
- BLS Certification preferred.
