Medical Communications Specialist
Location: Tulsa, OK
Schedule: Mon - Fri / 1:30pm to 10:00pm
Pay: $16.78
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Communications Specialist to manage inbound calls and messages for hospital and medical staff. This role is critical in dispatching routine and urgent clinical messages, monitoring alarms and codes, and maintaining accurate on-call schedules for departments and physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and route incoming calls promptly and courteously, ensuring accurate communication with the appropriate department or individual.
- Page notifications based on situation or request to the correct personnel.
- Document, relay, and maintain accurate records of all medical messages and communications.
- Monitor, communicate, and forward information regarding codes, alerts, alarms, and drills according to established protocols, including disaster management procedures.
- Maintain and update account records, alerting management to potential issues affecting service or communication systems.
- Make minor decisions independently within established policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and internal/external customers.
- Maintain a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to operate telecommunications systems effectively.
- Calm and professional under stress, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Flexible to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic knowledge of telephone/computer technology and equipment, including ASCOM system.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
