Position Overview

The Field Manual Machinist is an entry-level or apprentice role designed for individuals starting their career in machining. In this role, you will work directly with lead machinists on field jobs and in the shop, assisting with setup, preparation, and machining work. This position requires hands-on learning, physical labor, and a strong commitment to safety. This role involves approximately 30% travel, including overnight trips (e.g., to Odessa, TX) for up to a week at a time. While in the shop, the schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM with a one-hour lunch and two breaks each day.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead machinists on field assignments as a helper/apprentice.

  • Participate in physical work, including equipment prep, driving, loading/unloading, and hauling a ¾-ton truck.

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and training requirements at all times.

  • Learn machining skills through hands-on work, including use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).

  • Complete required job paperwork such as field time/expense reports and materials lists.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area both in the field and in the shop.

  • Take care of company and customer tools, equipment, and property.


Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (vocational machinist training preferred).

  • License: Valid driver’s license with a recent clean driving record

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Passport.

  • Willingness and ability to travel on short notice for up to a week at a time.

  • Must bring steel-toed boots (PPE provided otherwise).

  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).

  • Ability to work professionally with diverse personalities in the shop and field.

  • Must be safety-conscious and able to pass required safety training.
