Job Title: Refractory Department Assistant Lead
Shift: Day Shift | Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Pay: $20–$25 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary:
Support and lead daily activities in the refractory department under the direction of the Production Supervisor. This role involves hands-on work, leadership in task completion, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate cement mixer under supervision.

  • Hold tight tolerances in accordance with machining blueprints.

  • Participate in tasks including insulation installation, layout and trim cutting of tin, sign mounting, and caulking for finish work.

  • Support team members in completing job functions as directed by the departmental lead.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment (5S).

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, including proper machine and hand tool usage and safety device application.

  • Work overtime and weekends as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Proficient in using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, tape measures).

  • Skilled in using various hand tools (manual and powered).

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Works well in a team environment and demonstrates quality-focused work.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, mechanical equipment, confined spaces, and elevated workspaces.

Physical Demands:

  • Stand and operate tools for 10+ hours per day.

  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, and walking throughout the workday.

  • Must have sufficient vision and depth perception to complete detailed tasks.

  • Comfortable in a shop environment and capable of using safety gear for confined space or boiler-related work.

  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 75 lbs. unassisted using safe lifting techniques or equipment.
