Job Title: Refractory Department Assistant Lead
Shift: Day Shift | Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Pay: $20–$25 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary:
Support and lead daily activities in the refractory department under the direction of the Production Supervisor. This role involves hands-on work, leadership in task completion, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely operate cement mixer under supervision.
Hold tight tolerances in accordance with machining blueprints.
Participate in tasks including insulation installation, layout and trim cutting of tin, sign mounting, and caulking for finish work.
Support team members in completing job functions as directed by the departmental lead.
Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment (5S).
Adhere to all company safety policies, including proper machine and hand tool usage and safety device application.
Work overtime and weekends as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Proficient in using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
Skilled in using various hand tools (manual and powered).
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Works well in a team environment and demonstrates quality-focused work.
Work Environment:
Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, mechanical equipment, confined spaces, and elevated workspaces.
Physical Demands:
Stand and operate tools for 10+ hours per day.
Frequent stooping, kneeling, and walking throughout the workday.
Must have sufficient vision and depth perception to complete detailed tasks.
Comfortable in a shop environment and capable of using safety gear for confined space or boiler-related work.
Ability to lift and maneuver up to 75 lbs. unassisted using safe lifting techniques or equipment.
