Structural Welder

Day Shift

Pay $22/hour+DOE

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Read and interpret blueprints to determine specific welding requirements

• Use a welding machine to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified

• Inspect welding machine, cables, and other welding equipment

• Determine the weld needed, position, jig needed per weld specifications and material thickness

• Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specific depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of puddle.

• Determine which process should be used for moving raw materials or finished product in any given situation

• Examine weld for bead size, brakes, or cracks, and make recommended repairs

• Clean and grinds excess weld, slag, or splatter

• Cleans, grinds, or degrease parts

• Operates manlifts and cranes

• Other duties as assigned/directed by supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• 6 months to 1 year experience as a welder

• Ability to pass weld tests

• Knows and follows AWS D1.1 standards

• Certified to operate crane and manlifts
