Job Description: 

The Medical Staff Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating the activities of the organized medical staff, ensuring adherence to accreditation standards, verifying credentials, providing support to medical staff departments and committees, facilitating policy and procedure development, and contributing to the refinement of Bylaws.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of the organized medical staff, ensuring alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • Manage the credentials verification process for medical staff members, including initial appointments, reappointments, and privileging.

  • Provide administrative support to various medical staff departments and committees, facilitating meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting proceedings.

  • Collaborate with medical staff leaders and stakeholders to develop and refine policies, procedures, and Bylaws governing medical staff activities.

  • Serve as a liaison between the medical staff, administration, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to medical staff appointments, credentials, and compliance activities.

  • Stay abreast of changes in healthcare regulations and accreditation standards, recommending adjustments to policies and procedures as necessary.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of educational activities and training sessions for medical staff members.

Qualifications: 

Education:

High School or GED

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field (preferred).

Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required

Certified Professional in Medical Services - Preferred

Experience:

  • 3-5 years previous experience in medical staff services, credentialing, or healthcare administration.

  • Knowledge of accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to medical staff operations.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare information systems.
