Job Title: Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

Tulsa, OK | $19-$25 per hour

Full-Time | 3-4 days per week | 10-12 hour shifts

Job Summary: As a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), you will play a critical role in providing high-quality veterinary care to animals and supporting veterinarians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. You will be responsible for assisting in surgical procedures, providing nursing care to hospitalized animals, conducting diagnostic tests, administering medications, maintaining medical records, and educating clients on animal health and welfare. The RVN will work collaboratively with other veterinary professionals to ensure the well-being of animals and provide exceptional service to clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting veterinarians in diagnosing and treating animals, including preparing animals for surgery, monitoring anesthesia, and assisting during surgical procedures.

  • Providing nursing care to hospitalized animals, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and providing comfort and support.

  • Conducting diagnostic tests, such as bloodwork, radiography, and laboratory analysis, and providing accurate and timely results to veterinarians.

  • Educating clients on animal health, welfare, and preventive care, including providing advice on nutrition, vaccinations, and parasite control.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, including recording patient history, treatments, and procedures performed.

  • Assisting with emergency and critical care situations, including triaging patients, administering life-saving measures, and monitoring recovery.

  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the clinic, including sterilizing equipment, cleaning and disinfecting patient areas, and adhering to infection control protocols.

  • Participating in the training and supervision of junior veterinary staff, including veterinary assistants and student veterinary nurses.

  • Keeping abreast of current veterinary practices and advancements through continuing education and professional development opportunities.

  • Adhering to legal and ethical standards of veterinary nursing practice, including compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and professional codes of conduct.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with a valid license to practice veterinary nursing.

  • Diploma or degree in veterinary nursing from an accredited institution.

  • Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other veterinary professionals.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks efficiently.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.

  • Compassionate and caring towards animals with a commitment to their welfare.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with veterinary software and technology.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed.
