Welding Engineer - DIRECT HIRE

Summary:
This client is looking for candidates that specifies ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and customer specification compliant welding procedures, weld joint configuration, and coordinates weld procedure/welder qualification by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Actively develop new welding procedures and welding methods.

Liaison between Engineering other necessary personnel.

Communicate with customers regarding welding issues.
-
Review and assign welding procedures.
-
Maintain welder qualifications and test methods.
-
Calculate weld consumables.
-
Maintain the Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualifications Report.
COMPUTER SKILLS
-
Personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and AutoCAD.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
-
1yr Vo-tech, military, & community college all considered. BS engineering degree preferred.

Must have working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and section IX.

Must have working knowledge of AWS D1.1
-
Must have knowledge in strength of materials and be able to perform basic engineering strength calculations.

Must have a basic understanding of welding metallurgy & heat treatment.

Preference is given to individuals with the following (or similar) certifications:

AWS: CWI, CWEng, SCWI
-
CWB: Certified welding supervisor, Certified welding engineer

API: 510, 570, 653
