HPC & Cord Blood Lab Technologist | OKC


Pay: $30-$45/HR, DOE


Pay: Competitive pay based on education and/or experience and $500 bonus after 6 months and $1,000 bonus after 1 year!

Days: Monday through Friday

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Perform critical steps necessary for testing, processing, cryopreservation and shipping of Peripheral and Cord Blood Progenitor Cells and Peripheral Mononuclear Cells (MNCs) for infusion.


  • BS degree or equivalent

  • MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MLT or equivalent

  • Cell therapy laboratory experience preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determine Cord Blood product acceptability for further manufacturing

  • Process Cord Blood using Sepax/Cool-Mix technology

  • Process and/or cryopreserve Peripheral and Cord Blood progenitor cells and peripheral mononuclear cells for storage and distribution

  • Prepare and analyze test samples for the enumeration of CD34+ cells, white blood cells, and/or white blood cell characterization using flow cytometry

  • Prepare Cord Blood specimens for plating cell cultures and CFU analysis using StemVision technology

  • Prepare slide smears, stain slides, and perform manual cell differentials on HPC/MNC components and HPC/MNC donor samples

  • Provide and communicate test results as appropriate

  • Perform laboratory equipment quality control, maintenance as appropriate and complete iMaint work orders

  • Review and file patient and donor records as appropriate

  • Using sterile technique, obtain bacterial/fungal culture samples from pre and post processing HPC and Cord Blood components

  • Accurately prepare reagents for flow cytometric analysis, cell culturing, CFU assays and other testing, as required

  • Accurately perform viability testing on fresh and thawed Cord Blood & HPC components

  • Perform proficiency testing as required

  • Review and perform verification of new and updated HPC and Cord Blood Lab documents as needed

  • Obtain a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education per year

  • Maintain Cord Blood Processing, HPC Processing and HPC Testing laboratories in a clean and orderly manner

  • Print and review temperature/humidity graphs for the HPC & Cord Blood Processing Laboratories, HPC Testing Lab and LN2 storage devices

  • Perform Cord Blood, HPC, and other cell therapy lab validation procedures as appropriate

  • Perform calibration on equipment or send for calibration as needed

  • Perform Cord Blood & HPC Processing Lab audits on a quarterly basis
