Are you a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a passion for piping design and process systems? We’re looking for an Engineer to join a dynamic team working on cutting-edge pilot plant and process integration projects.

You’ll design piping systems to ASME B31.3 standards, create detailed drawings using SolidWorks and MS Visio, and see your work come to life—from concept through installation.

Engineer

Position Summary:

This role involves designing piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3, creating supporting detail drawings, and performing standard design calculations. The Engineer will be responsible for process integration from design through installation, developing bills of materials (BOMs), specifying instrumentation, and maintaining updated P&IDs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience, a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and the ability to support pilot plant operations and design efforts. Experience in FEA and thermal simulations is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and draft piping systems compliant with ASME B31.3 standards

  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks and MS Visio

  • Develop and manage BOMs for designed systems

  • Specify and integrate instrumentation for mechanical systems

  • Update and maintain unit Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

  • Support and supervise operations within the pilot plant as needed

  • Participate in the overall process from concept through installation

  • Conduct or assist with thermal and structural (FEA) simulations

  • Perform thermodynamic calculations and mechanical system builds as needed

  • Contribute to plant design and operational setup

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Excel (ANSYS experience is a plus)

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, perform calculations, and contribute to physical system builds

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Willingness to work shifts and participate in hands-on plant activities

  • Experience with demonstration-scale operations is preferred

  • Local candidates strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in lab, highbay, or plant environments

  • Standing, climbing stairs/ladders (8–20 ft), and walking between multiple work sites (up to 1500 acres) required

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. unassisted; lifting over 50 lbs. with assistance

  • Lifting may be required 1–5% of the time

  • Must wear steel-toe safety shoes

  • Must possess a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
