Job Overview:
The Purchasing Agent plays a critical role in ensuring that raw materials, components, and supplies are procured efficiently to support manufacturing operations. This position involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and skilled in vendor relations and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Management: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, establish relationships, and negotiate contracts to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Procurement Planning: Coordinate purchasing schedules based on production needs, inventory levels, and lead times to avoid shortages or excess stock.
Cost & Budget Control: Analyze pricing trends and market conditions to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
Purchase Orders & Documentation: Generate purchase orders, track deliveries, and maintain accurate procurement records.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all materials meet required specifications and collaborate with quality control teams to address any discrepancies.
Inventory Oversight: Monitor stock levels and work with warehouse staff to optimize inventory management.
Vendor Negotiations: Secure the best terms for pricing, delivery schedules, and payment conditions while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred).
Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to analyze costs, forecasts, and inventory data.
Knowledge of ERP systems and procurement software.
Understanding of industry regulations, quality control standards, and sustainable sourcing practices.
