Plus Group, Inc. is looking for an Ophthalmic Technician to work at their client’s medical facility in Sacramento, CA!

 

Summary

Responsible to collect all of patient’s prior health information and communicate all changes to the doctor.  Position requires good interpersonal skills to maintain a smooth running team environment in a professional office.   The technician must be able to anticipate the needs of the doctor, patient and coworkers.  Must be able to explain testing and procedures to patients in a professional manner.  Will comply with HIPPA and observe strict patient confidentiality at all times.   

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Obtain and document history in chart on EHR

  • Perform pre-exam tests, including A/R, mini V/F, color VA’s stereo vision, lensometer reading, VA’s, pupil check, motility, IOP’s and dilation

  • Assist doctor in minor procedures

  • Perform diagnostic testing – OCT, fundus and slit-lamp photos, VF

  • Refer patient questions regarding diagnoses or test results to the doctor

  • Open, close and clean procedure and exam rooms

  • Anticipate and communicate with the other technicians at all times to ensure proper flow of patients

  • Inventory back office supplies

  • Monitor cleaning of equipment-slit lamp, indirect, lenses, etc.

  • Direct patient with a filled scrip to optical

  • Assist doctor in satellite offices as needed

  • File back charts and pull charts

  • Fax prescription refills and pre-authorization requests

  • Monitor and stock procedure and exam rooms

  • Inventory medical/back office supplies, report low stock to Lead Technician

  • Call and confirm next day appointments

  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned

  • Must be able to pass background and drug screen upon offer

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
