The Weld Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the welding operations within the manufacturing facility. This includes managing welders, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, maintaining equipment, and driving production efficiency. The Weld Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring that welding activities meet customer specifications, regulatory standards, and internal production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of welding personnel.
- Ensure all welding is performed in compliance with company policies, welding procedures, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, AWS, ISO).
- Plan and schedule welding jobs to meet production timelines.
- Conduct regular inspections of welded products for quality assurance.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to ensure correct fabrication.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate welders and welding apprentices.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and maintenance teams to resolve production issues.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of welding equipment.
- Enforce safety protocols and lead incident investigations as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in welding processes and productivity.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or welding certification (e.g., AWS CWI) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of welding experience, with 5 years or more in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux Core).
- Strong understanding of welding codes, standards, and metallurgy.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles is a plus.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and fumes.
- Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
