A leading manufacturer in the work truck industry, is searching for an In-Process Weld Inspector to ensure quality weld products and drive continuous improvement in the weld department. 


Primary Job Duties:

  • Lead continuous improvement activities related to welding processes including, but not limited to,   shop-floor work instructions, weld quality and productivity, and implementation of weld fixtures and processes
  • Maintain open communication between manufacturing departments including welding, fabrication, laser, machine shop, manufacturing engineering, and the quality department
  • Engage in Root Cause and Corrective/Preventive Action activities to eliminate weld defects and reduce scrap
  • Perform and document inspections on welded products using hand measurement tools such as a tape measure, functional gauges, and calipers to ensure accuracy, form, and function of finished goods
  • Measure parts according to the engineering drawings and inspection plans
  • Comply with all safety requirements and proper use of PPE
  • Additional responsibilities as requested or required related to weld projects, equipment evaluation and repair, materials evaluation, etc…


Skills/ Experience:

  • Have valid AWS CWI and/or ASNT LEVEL 2 for Visual Testing
    • Lack of current certification may be overlooked for a candidate willing to certify within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience welding with GTAW and GMAW
  • Demonstrated problem solving and preventive action implementation experience
  • Good written/oral communication skills
  • Experience measuring with calipers, micrometers, tape measures, fillet weld and V-WAC gauges.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Follow direction and work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) 
  • Understanding of how to read/create WPS’s and PQR’s


Education Background:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of applicable experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment in quality inspection or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • 2-5 years of direct weld experience
