The Construction Manager is the primary company representative responsible for the overall direction, completion, and outcome of a construction project. Directs and supervises activities related to onsite construction, planning, submittals, project financial projections, materials, staffing, and schedule requirements to ensure projects are completed in a quality, profitable, safe, and timely manner while meeting design specifications.

• Oversee company superintendents.
• Leads commercial construction projects.
• Plans, organizes, and manages operations on job sites.
• Prepares project progress reporting.
• Plan, coordinate, budget, and supervise construction projects from start to finish.
• Develop Work Procedures and Oversee Quality Control Programs.
• Assist in Project Cost Control and Scheduling.
• Support Sales and Business Development.
• Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
• Resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
• Provides leadership in all stages by collaborating with clients, engineers, or other involved parties.
• Develops and maintains good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, managers, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, superintendents, and employees.
• Maintains communication between client and company for progress reports and problem resolution.
• Obtains required licenses and permits, confers with city or county inspectors, and ensures compliance of legal requirements, company regulations, and building and safety codes and guidelines.
• Determines labor requirements, acquire necessary talent and dispatch workers to construction sites.
• Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from project set up to completion.
• Direct personnel and sub-contractors in the planning and execute of work activities and coordinate phases of construction to avoid delays.
• Maintain high level of safety, job site cleanliness and organization in accordance with company and industry standards.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship adheres to quality standards and project specifications.
• Assist and Complete Project Estimating.
• Participate in pre-award meetings.
• Works with Purchasing to choose appropriate materials and plan the best way to get materials to the building sites.
• Management of project logistics; including equipment, and materials
• Review contract drawings and specifications for constructability and conformance to base operations constraints and existing field conditions.
Education and Experiences
• Must be willing to travel. This position is up to 70% travel.
• 5+ years of experience as a Construction Manager, Project Manager or Project Field Engineer for industrial/commercial projects
• Applicant must live in or be willing to relocate to Birmingham, Alabama area.
• Knowledge of thermal processes and refractory work.
• Proficient in construction scheduling and using software such as MS Project
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Project Management or Engineering preferred.
• CPM or PMP preferred
