Utilities Engineer

TalentEdge has a direct hire opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with Medium Voltage experience.

In this role you will provide technical guidance for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the Eastman Business Park microgrid in Rochester, New York.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a long-range strategic capital plan regarding the operations & maintenance of the electrical distribution system.

• Provide technical assistance in the areas of medium voltage (600V to 34.5KV) distribution equipment, substations, transformer, switchgear, MV cable, and MV motors/generators

• Provide power systems analysis for load flow and voltage drop, short circuit studies, equipment protection, and coordination, and arc flash studies.

• Project management support, and Project Electrical Engineer functions for projects both internal and customer driven. This includes oversight of contract project engineers.

• Provide Electrical Engineering assistance to all operating departments pertaining to building systems. Systems to include HVAC, reliable power, general lighting & power, IT cabling, cameras/security, fire alarms.

• Provide technical assistance in the area of low voltage (48V to 600V) distribution equipment, variable frequency drives, and motors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• Experience in business development/manufacturing/energy generation/distribution environment preferred.

• Project management experience in capital or capitalized maintenance projects.

• Ability to deal with outside contractors and vendors

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

• Knowledgeable in the area of Medium Voltage (600V to 34.5KV) systems and equipment.

• Knowledgeable in the area of Low Voltage (480V to 600V) systems and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the engineering, construction and design of power plants, cogeneration and/or other multi-disciplinary, energy-intensive industrial processes

• Proficient in MS Office

• New York State PE License is expected for this position.

Work Environment/Schedule:

• Industrial and office environments.

• Must work at times in dirty and noisy areas

• Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to off-hour call-ins.
