Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundskeeper to join our team. Sylvania, OH Mon-Sat 8am-4:30pm (Occasional mandatory OT in spring/summer). Starting at $16/hr. 2+ years landscaping experience required. This position has a strong focus on flowers. Planting them, pruning, maintaining flower beds and watering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of our outdoor spaces. This role requires a strong understanding of landscape maintenance and a passion for outdoor work. The Groundskeeper will play a crucial role in ensuring that our grounds are well-kept, safe, and inviting for all visitors.
Duties
- Perform regular lawn care tasks, including mowing, trimming, and fertilizing to maintain healthy grass.
- Plant, maintain and care for flowers, shrubs and other plants.
- Maintain and operate landscaping tools/equipment safely and effectively.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper water distribution across grounds.
- Ensure all areas are maintained to the highest standards of beauty and cleanliness.
- General cleanup tasks such as removing debris and leaf clearing.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in landscaping/grounds maintenance with a focus on horticulture
- Ability to identify and care for a wide range of plants, flowers and trees
- Ability to operate landscaping tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers.
- Strong work ethic
- Knowledge of irrigation systems
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
- A compassionate and respectful approach to working in a cemetery environment, understanding the sensitive nature of the work.
- Able to lift 50lbs
- High school diploma or GED
- No felonies/misdemeanors on a background check
- Clear 4-panel drug screen
Work Conditions
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Physical labor including lifting, bending and working with gardening tools/machinery
- Occasional weekend hours for special projects or seasonal needs
