Job Summary
The Compounder is responsible for the precise preparation and mixing of raw ingredients to create batches used in manufacturing, ensuring all safety guidelines and production standards are followed throughout the process.
Job Responsibilities
- Measure and pre-weigh all chemicals needed for each batch according to the formula provided.
- Select raw materials in accordance with the First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory method.
- Verify and record the lot numbers of all materials used during compounding.
- Follow batch records and written instructions exactly as outlined.
- Mix ingredients following detailed specifications to meet product and quality requirements.
- Carry out multi-stage batch production to generate bulk material.
- Accurately record materials used, batch times, and other production data in batch documentation.
- Collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis and quality control testing.
- Manage product waste responsibly and dispose of it according to company protocols.
- Clean and sanitize all compounding equipment and tanks following SOPs.
- Maintain full compliance with cGMP regulations and all written manufacturing procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and operating procedures.
- Support continuous improvement efforts through quality audits, corrective actions, and data analysis.
- Escalate any product quality concerns or issues to supervisors as needed.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety standards at all times.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Prior experience in compounding creams or lotions is a must.
- At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or supply chain roles is required.
- Must have experience operating a stand-up forklift.
- High attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions thoroughly.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP or MRP software is a plus.
- Must be able to read and write in English to complete records accurately.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Regular physical activity including standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to safely lift and lower up to 30 lbs.
- Good vision (corrected if necessary) and solid hand-eye coordination are required.
- Work takes place in both warehouse and office environments, with exposure to production areas.
- Must be comfortable working around moving equipment, forklifts, dust, and in varying temperatures (hot, cold, humid).
