Tool & Die Maker Job Description
Job Summary:
The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for cutting, shaping, finishing, and maintaining metal tools and forging die casts to create molds. This role ensures that all tools and dies are produced and maintained to high standards, contributing to the efficient operation of the production process.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Tool and Fixture Creation: Utilize tools and dies to build fixtures and create new dies as required for constructing fixtures.
Repair and Maintenance: Repair dies, molds, and tools as needed; disassemble and reassemble molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures for repairs.
Blueprint and Schematic Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and complex schematics to accurately create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts.
Quality Inspection: Inspect completed tools and dies for imperfections or damage that could affect their functionality.
Equipment Testing: Regularly test equipment, tools, and machines to ensure they are properly arranged, set, and operating efficiently.
Machine Modification: Adjust machines to control speed, material feed, or path of cut as necessary to produce quality products within specifications.
Workplace Safety and Organization: Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace.
Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
