Production Control Clerk

Location: Shakopee, MN
Shift: Day shift: 7:30-4:30 PM or 8-5 PM

Department: Production / Inventory Control

Position Summary

The Production Control Clerk is responsible for monitoring material flow, ensuring inventory accuracy, and supporting the production floor by tracking jobs, parts, and work orders. This role requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with warehouse, production, and leadership teams. The ideal candidate enjoys investigative work, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain accurate production and inventory records.

  • Review and update the Unconsumed Inventory Report, expanding tracking to cutters and mounters as needed.

  • Use tools such as SVT TAG Delivery Search, Warehouse /Bin Search and on-hand receipt detail spreadsheets to identify materials recently moved to the production floor.

  • Track job status, material usage, and work order progress across departments.

  • Investigate discrepancies, shortages, or missing materials and communicate findings promptly.

  • Assist with inventory cycle counts, reconciliations, and variance resolution.

  • Coordinate with warehouse, press, cutters, mounters, and other production areas to ensure material availability.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in the ERP system (Monarch), especially within the items and jobs sections.

  • Support production planners and supervisors with up-to-date inventory and job status information.

  • Communicate clearly with team members and escalate issues when needed.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support smooth production flow.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in production control, inventory control, warehouse operations, or related manufacturing role.

  • Strong computer skills; comfortable using ERP/MRP systems and spreadsheets.

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and investigative skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus.

  • Ability to work independently, follow through on tasks, and interact confidently with all levels of production staff.

  • Comfortable moving between office and production floor; must be able to walk/stand as needed to track materials.

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Previous experience with Monarch or similar ERP systems

  • Experience in printing, logistics, or manufacturing environments

  • Knowledge of material flow, job routing, or production scheduling

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk production floor regularly

  • Use of a laptop for mobile work is recommended
