  1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and assist operations with timesheet issues and/or work assignments

  • Process new hires and personnel changes submitted by Human Resources Department using the Ceridian Dayforce system adhering to established approval policies and procedures

  • Responsible for reviewing, researching and responding to garnishment notices

  • Process deductions to include statutory payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits and other voluntary deductions in an efficient and timely manner. Report discrepancies to deemed benefits administrator or other appropriate company contact

  • Research employee payroll inquiries following up with operations managers or Human Resources as required to resolve disputes

  • Verify and update vacation accruals based on company policy.

  • Follow weekly payroll processing procedures ensuring that checks and balances are executed prior to transmittal to Ceridian Dayforce.

  • Verify accuracy of payroll reports, paychecks, and direct deposits

  • Prepare and distribute required reports after each payroll processing

  • Verify yearly W2 forms each quarter

  • Perform month-end, quarter end and year end reconciliations

  • Research federal, state & local tax issues. Communicate with Dayforce and tax agencies to resolve issues.

  • Review all quarterly tax packages, amendments & tax communications and file appropriately.

 

  1. REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of federal & multi state laws and regulations

  • Experience with unions is a plus but not required

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to build strong relationships throughout all levels of the organization

  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills with high attention to detail

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with absolute discretion

  • Advanced Excel skills are a MUST

  • Demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is a must

 

  1. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of payroll experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred but not required

  • Preferred experience with large ERP payroll software such as Ceridian Dayforce, ADP or Workday
