Job Title: Estimating Manager
Department: Estimating
Reports To: VP of Pre-Construction
Job Overview: The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading a small, dynamic estimating team in preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for projects ranging from $1,000,000 to $70,000,000. Utilizing advanced features of the InEight estimating software, the Estimating Manager will oversee all aspects of the estimating processes, ensuring competitive and reliable budgets are provided to support decision-making and project success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management:
o Lead, develop, and manage the estimating team to ensure high performance and accuracy in all estimating activities.
o Provide training and guidance on the use of InEight software and its integration into daily estimating practices.
o Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation.
2. Estimating Processes:
o Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates from conceptual through construction phases.
o Ensure all estimates are prepared using the InEight platform, following standard operating procedures and aligning with industry best practices.
o Review and finalize estimates prepared by team members, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance with contractual requirements.
3. Strategic Planning and Analysis:
o Analyze historical data and market trends to enhance estimating accuracy and reliability.
o Collaborate with project management and business development teams to develop strategies for winning bids.
o Participate in the review of potential projects, assessing feasibility and alignment with company capabilities and goals.
4. Client and Stakeholder Interaction:
o Build and maintain relationships with key clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is incorporated into estimates.
o Represent the estimating department in client meetings, presenting estimates and addressing queries regarding cost factors and methodologies.
5. Reporting and Documentation:
o Prepare and present regular reports on the status of estimates, variations, and any potential risks affecting costs.
o Ensure all estimating documentation is maintained systematically in InEight, providing easy access and audit trails for all projects.
6. Continuous Improvement:
o Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the estimating process using InEight software.
o Stay abreast of advancements in estimating technology and techniques, ensuring the department remains at the forefront of industry practices.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
· Proven experience in construction estimating, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
· Extensive knowledge of InEight estimating software and its application in large-scale projects.
· Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
· Office environment with occasional visits to project sites.
· Regular interaction with team members and external stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
· Primarily desk-based with some requirement for site visits.
